Unconscious or implicit bias refers to unconsciously created correlations between various attributes and social categories such as race, gender, or handicap, and to judgments made without conscious awareness. Automatic inclinations or prejudices are a big factor in the lack of diversity in the workplace.
- Educate employees on the various types of unconscious bias and the negative effects that can arise from permitting such behavior to become normalized
- Monitor unconscious bias in each another and challenge statements or remarks about cultural or gender stereotypes
